Industrial Materials Testing

Universal Testing Machine
Universal Testing Machine

Tinius Olsen's Materials Testing Machines are designed to test a wide spectrum of materials including metals, plastics, rubber, textiles, paper, yarn, wire, adhesives, ceramics, timber, foils, composites and finished components in tension, compression, flexure or shear.

Tinius Olsen proudly offers the ST and SL series of tensile tester. The ST series have a selection of user interfaces, namely a simple tethered interface and display for basic control of the machine, a wireless Bluetooth connected panel which features a three channel display, and a virtual controller running with Horizon software running on a connected Windows pc. In addition to our standard test frames, Tinius Olsen offers a couple of select application testing frames capable of accomodating wide specimens or testing at ultra high speeds.

All testing hardware is fully complemented by Tinius Olsen developed Horizon software that turns your hardware into a sophisticated quality analysis system. Be sure to examine the software products to determine which options are right for your application.

SL series Testing Machines are rugged tension and compression hydraulic machines proven in thousands of demanding applications worldwide. Available with digital readout ...and optional servo and computer control system

Hardness Testers
Hardness Testers

Tinius Olsen has many types of hardness testers available that can rapidly and accurately determine the hardness value of a wide variety of materials including metals, plastics, large parts, small precision parts. Whether you need are portable testers, bench mounted testers, large scale floor mounted testers or dedicated testers that are integrated into your production lines, we can help you with your application.

Melt Flow Indexer
Melt Flow Indexer

Tinius Olsen is proud to introduce our latest evolution of melt indexer to meet almost every need. This new model, the MP1200, meets, and surpasses, all the requirements of Procedure A and Procedures B, C and D of ASTM D1238.

Pendulum Impact Tester
Pendulum Impact Tester

Tinius Olsen manufactures a range of different pendulum impact testers that can be easily changed from a Charpy configuration to an Izod configuration. These testers come in a couple of capacities and are designed primarily for either plastics or metals impact testing.

Torsion Tester
Torsion Tester

For maximum torsion testing versatility and capability, Tinius Olsen offers a full range of torsion testing machines in capacities from 1,000 to 30,000 Nm. These uniquely superior torsion testers provide loading and weighing capabilities in both directions of rotation. This feature makes it possible to conveniently determine not only the ultimate torque load of a specimen, but how that specimen behaves under conditions of continuous or intermittent torque loading in both directions. Essentially, each torsion tester comprises a variable speed drive loading system and a digital control and indicating system in a fixed unit. The weighing head with its strain gage torque sensor is mounted on a moveable unit which can positioned on the rails to accomodate specimens of varying lengths.

Extensometer
Extensometer

Specifically designed for the highly accurate measurement of strain and deflection, these instruments provide valuable testing information. Extensometers measure strain, which is calculated as the change in length of a specimen divided by the original length (gauge length) of the specimen and expressed as a percentage.

Horizon Software
Horizon Software

Computer assisted data acquisition and machine control system which can be supplied with most Tinius Olsen testing equipment. The Horizon software package allows data to be collected, analyzed, graphed (where appropriate), and stored. If the testing machine allows, it can also provide control over testing operations.

Horizon has a comprehensive selection of pre-defined testing programs which includes powerful analysis of testing data, complex control, and sophisticated reporting. These programs can be modified and further enhanced to fit a customer’s particular requirements. The testing data collected by these programs may be exported to an outside source then later transferred to other data analysis systems. The Horizon databases may also be configured to be shared across several computers on a company’s network thereby allowing the testing programs and testing data to be utilized by multiple systems.

Using Horizon will make easy work of your materials testing, whether it’s designed for the demanding rigors of R&D or the charting and analysis functions of QC testing.
